How do I run a Free Automated Scan?
To audit an Android app package (.apk):
- Go to the Homepage and navigate to the Start APK Scan card.
- Enter a valid email address where you want to receive the validation token.
- Drag and drop your
.apkfile into the upload zone (or click to browse). - Click Request OTP Token. Check your inbox for the 6-digit access code and enter it to authorize scan initialization.
- Once verified, the scanner runs an Appium container emulation and emails you the final accessibility summary link.
What criteria does the automated analyzer check?
The automated scanner parses your mobile layout hierarchy to inspect criteria mapped from WCAG 2.2 AA standards:
- Contrast Ratio: Verifies that text overlays meet the minimum contrast threshold against backgrounds.
- Content Descriptions: Identifies image buttons and decorative elements lacking text labels.
- Touch Targets: Measures click target dimensions to verify if they meet the minimum 48x48dp target sizing.
- Traversability: Audits whether linear screen reader focus sequence behaves logically.
How secure are my uploaded files?
We take file security extremely seriously:
- All uploads are transferred over SSL/TLS encrypted pipelines.
- APK packages are analyzed within sandboxed local emulators.
- To comply with intellectual property protection and GDPR, all uploaded binaries are completely and permanently deleted within 48 hours of scan completion.
- We do not distribute, review manually, or sell uploaded files to third parties.
Can I run automated scans on iOS applications (.ipa)?
Currently, the automated online scan panel only supports Android package files (.apk). Because of Apple's sandboxing limitations, automated remote audits on iOS files are highly restricted.
However, we offer thorough manual iOS audits. If you need your iOS application validated, please check out our User Testing Service to run audits on TestFlight builds with disabled users.
